Salomon Ivy Boots: Who Might Ride ‘Em
The Salomon Ivy boots kind of run the gamut in terms of who might ride them. That is, these boots are forgiving enough for beginner and intermediate riders, but also a great fit for more advanced snow-goers like myself. They provide enough support, when and where I need it, but also work extremely well with all the hiking I do. When I hike, I want a snowboard boot that offers supportive comfort, a medium flex, and excellent traction, much like these (very sexy) boots. So… if you're an advanced rider who prefers a softer, more skate shoe kind of feel underfoot, give the Salomon Ivy boots a go. If you’re just starting out and want something that offers a straightforward and simple lacing system, definite warmth, and endless comfort for your feet, also give these boots a go.
On-Snow Feel
I’ve been riding my Salomon Ivy boots in blower pow and soft groomers, all over the stunning topography in and around Silverton, CO, and out at Purgatory in Durango. And guess what? These boots are as killer as the conditions I’ve been experiencing them in. Even though I haven’t tested these boots in more challenging conditions (yet), they let me get on edge pretty quickly (especially for a boot that isn’t stiff), and I can foresee them continuing to do so across all kinds of demanding snowpack. To boot (hehe), the shock absorption in these Salomon Ivy boots works well for my soon-to-need surgery knee, and the traction is exactly what I need while hiking steeps.
Why Steer Clear of These Kicks
Style-wise, if you want to inject a pop of color into your getup, these boots won’t do the trick. They are sexy black with small gold accents, but there’s not a scream, or even a quiet yell of color in them. Also, after I put more days of riding in, I’ll have to report back as to how the Salomon Ivy boots hold up over time. Durability is key when you love to ride!
Why Pull on These Moonwalkers
When you combine the inner lacing system and the outer, dual ZoneLock lacing system of the Solomon Ivy boots, what you get is excellent heel hold. Keep in mind, this excellent heel hold is partly due to the compatibility of this boot design with my particular ankles and calves (check out my rider profile to see my calve, foot, and ankle specs; if yours are similar, these boots might work).
Final Notes: Salomon Ivy Boots
I hike a lot and the Solomon Ivy boots are comfortable, warm, and awesome. I love the way they look with the white around the footbed. They look like cute skateboard shoes.
Expect for a Boa mishap last year, I’ve had mostly good luck with the boots I’ve ridden throughout my 22 years as a snowboarder. I can say with confidence that my Solomon Ivy boots are only allowing the streak to continue.
